The corruption scandal that occurred during a Robbie Williams concert is a "fortunate" coincidence of circumstances from the point of view of justice in Bulgaria, because it will simply be very difficult for the ruling party to sweep it under the carpet – the scandal is of too large a scale and has also received coverage in the European media. He said this in the "Metronome" program on Radio "Focus" MP from PP-DB Manol Peykov.
Corruption in the DAI reaches very high levels of power, he also pointed out and specified that this is why GERB and MRF are submitting a proposal to close the agency. "The only working strategy of the ruling party is to close the agency so that they can hide everything that is happening there. We insist that the DAI be investigated, that the prosecutor's office take action and immediately begin a thorough, in-depth investigation of what is happening in the state agency," he said and added that even if the DAI is closed and its functions are redirected to the Ministry of Interior, corruption cannot be stopped with such impunity, and this will simply be reproduced and repeated.
"So there is no reason for this agency to be closed. It must be investigated and must be cleansed from within,“ Peykov is categorical.
According to him, the path to democracy is not lost, but must be defended daily.
"Everything starts from schooling, it starts from education and culture. Culture is the one that gives us the opportunity to answer the question: who am I and what is my place both in the universe and in the community I inhabit, and what are my personal responsibilities and rights. So the battle is long-term, the run is long – it is a marathon, not a sprint“.
Responsibility is what is most lacking, and it is from the people who are at the highest levels of power. "The separation of powers was invented not by chance, because it is precisely this that challenges people at different levels of power to be responsible. You have separate legislative, executive and judicial powers, and the fourth power - the media, and each should control the other. The problem is that in Bulgaria the judiciary has been taken over“.
