Work continues on the preparation of the program for the subject "Virtues and Religions", and probably tomorrow the changes to the Preschool and School Education Act will be considered at first reading. This was announced in Plovdiv by the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev.
He pointed out that while teachers can be prepared quickly, preparing textbooks takes more time, which makes it impossible to introduce the subject from the next school year.
The minister specified that the program will not be approved before a relative agreement is reached between all stakeholders. It will be alternative and basic: if the number of children wishing to study the conventional program "Orthodox Christianity" is less than six, they will be included in "Virtues and Religions".
Valchev emphasized that no child will be obliged to study a religion that he or his parents do not want.
