The National Assembly rejected the proposal to hear the Minister of Transport and the Executive Director of the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" (IAAA) regarding the scandal with the bribe demanded by the team of the world-famous singer Robbie Williams. The request, submitted by "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB), did not gather the necessary support and was not included in the agenda for today's session.
The scandal erupted in late September, when it became clear that upon entering Bulgaria for the concert on September 28, the British star's team was asked for a bribe by DAI employees. The case has sparked sharp political reactions, including calls from the leaders of GERB and DPS to close the agency. A few days ago, Transport Minister Grozdan Karadjov himself announced that he would initiate changes that would make DAI "have no business on the road".
The proposal for the hearing was made by MP Lyuben Ivanov and a group of MPs from PP-DB in order to obtain up-to-date information on the measures taken after the corruption scandal. However, it was rejected by the votes "against" and "abstain" of the ruling majority, supported by "DPS-New Beginning".
Instead of discussing the scandal at DAI, the MPs adopted an agenda in which the first item was the discussion of changes to the Preschool and School Education Act.
