Minister of Culture Marian Bachev with his first comment after the detention of actor Rosen Belov - a teacher at the theater workshop, whose founder is Bachev.
"Colleague Rosen Belov is part of the teaching team of the Theater Workshop “Arcadia Fusion Art“ and is on a civil contract. He has never been a partner in the foundation, because the foundation has no partners – it has a chairman of the board of directors and members. He has never been among them, which is evident from the Commercial Register," the minister wrote.
"We learned about the detention of Rosen Belov on October 25, Saturday, in the morning. We notified all parents from both groups in the workshop. They did not express any concerns and 35 out of 37 children were at the rehearsal, as 2 were sick. I learned from social networks that the mayor of the “Izgrev“ district will inspect the activities of our Theater Workshop in the “Nikolay Khaitov-1936“ school, where we have been working for 10 years. I expect the results of the inspection to be made public,” Bachev also wrote.
The minister also announced that in support of the school's activities, the parents of the children participating in it have written an official letter to the mayor of the “Izgrev” district Delyan Georgiev, as well as to the chairman and secretary of the "Nikolai Haitov-1936" National Theater School.
"We, the parents of the children who are studying at the "Arcadia Fusion Art" Theater Workshop, are addressing you to express our categorical support for the teachers and the overall activities of the school. The "Arcadia Fusion Art" Theater Workshop is not only a theater school, there our children learn patience, perseverance, teamwork, discipline. This is a place where they feel accepted, protected and inspired to create. The teachers work with professionalism, responsibility and dedication. We believe that the theater workshop provides a safe, moral and supportive environment for our children. Over the years, we have seen their progress and personal growth, thanks to the created spirit of mutual respect and trust.
In this regard, we categorically state that any suggestions of immoral actions, improper behavior or inappropriate treatment of children are absolutely unfounded and do not correspond to reality. We believe that the inspections and attention of institutions should be directed to places where there are real problems, and not to organizations that have proven to work with professionalism, quality and humanity for years.
We remain ready to express our support, to protect the Theater Workshop and the interests of our children, if necessary, both with active actions and participation in media and any other appearances."
We recall that the actor Rosen Belov, together with the director of the National Patient Organization Dr. Stanimir Hasardzhiev, were arrested on charges of coercion for which a firearm was used. The arrest came after a 20-year-old boy complained that he was being held forcibly in Hasardjiev's apartment. Investigation data showed that the young man was also given a cocktail of drugs.
