A young boy died in a traffic accident in Kozloduy, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Vratsa announced, quoted by BTA.
The accident occurred early Sunday morning – the signal was submitted to tel. 112 at 5.15 a.m.
The police team sent to the scene determined that a car had hit an 18-year-old resident of the city, after which the driver left the scene of the accident.
After a search, the car that hit the boy was found. It was determined that a 20-year-old man, also from Kozloduy, was driving.
The driver was detained and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
According to the report of the Ministry of Interior's Regional Office in Vratsa, 70 road accidents were registered in the district last month, of which 17 were serious. Two people died in them. Compared to the same month of the previous year, there are one fewer road accidents and two more fatalities.
Three people died and 21 were injured in 16 serious accidents in the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior reported.
Four serious and 25 minor road accidents were registered in Sofia, in which four people were injured.
Since the beginning of the month, 403 accidents have occurred with 37 deaths and 496 injuries, the police also announced.
