Minister Karadjov: In Bulgaria there will now be clear rules and control for every attraction - 1

In Bulgaria there will now be clear rules and control for every attraction - both on land, by air and by water. Today we adopted the draft Law on General Safety Rules for the Provision of Attraction Services, Representing a Source of Increased Danger.

This was stated at a briefing after the meeting of the Council of Ministers by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov.

"The draft law was prepared after a series of incidents that showed that there are no clear safety rules. The new law creates a clear framework for safety, mandatory insurance and control over all attractions. The goal is to guarantee the life and health of people, while also creating predictable conditions for business. Registration in a public register with the Ministry of Tourism will be required for all companies that provide such services. Without registration - they will not have the right to act. Mandatory "accident" insurance will be required for each user, so that in the event of an accident there is guaranteed compensation. There will be daily inspections of the facilities and mandatory safety rights placed in a visible place. Obligation for an escort for children under 14 years of age", he added.

"Amendments are also being introduced in several other draft laws - the Insurance Code, the Commercial Shipping Code, the Civil Aviation Act and the Road Transport Act. The new law will not burden the state budget. This law will reduce the risks of accidents. The law is entering the National Assembly and once it is adopted, a 6-month guarantee period is foreseen so that all amusement parks can comply with the new provisions. In the new law, we clearly link the risks of amusement parks to the Criminal Code," concluded Minister Karadjov.
