Bulgarian citizens should be calm about fuel supplies. There is gasoline in the warehouses for at least 6 months, and diesel fuel will cover the needs of citizens for nearly 4 months. There is jet fuel for two months. This was said by Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov at a hearing in the plenary hall.
"If supplies stop today, Bulgaria has enough reserves, and the stoppage will not affect Bulgarian citizens in any way, either in terms of price or in any way. We have entry points through which fuel can be secured for entry into the country," Stankov added.
According to him, on October 23, the government took immediate action with two main tasks. "On the one hand, ensuring the security of supplies and preventing speculation, as well as consultations with the authorities and obtaining a derogation in order to ensure peace of mind related to fuel supplies. In connection with the first task, I immediately activated a plan in two parts - phase 1 and 2 - inspection and monitoring by an expert group, as well as preventive actions. In negotiating the derogation, the Bulgarian state worked well with OFAC, the EC and the US government. Our country is cited as an example as the one that analyzed the situation the fastest. It is important for all institutions to unite to obtain a derogation," the Minister of Energy also said.
