The Constitutional Court considers the Ombudsman's request to repeal the ban on technical inspections for unpaid fines - 1

The Constitutional Court admitted for consideration on the merits the Ombudsman's request to establish the unconstitutionality of the provision of the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Road Traffic Act, which prohibits passing a technical inspection with unpaid acts and tickets.

The session was attended by 11 constitutional judges.

The ruling was adopted unanimously.

Passing through the checkpoints is done with an identity card, a small coupon, valid "Civil Liability" insurance and a paid annual tax. If all this is in place, the system lets us in and we go for an inspection.

From May 7 next year, however, these requirements will be supplemented by the mandatory payment of the penalty orders, tickets or electronic tickets that have entered into force for the owner, user or person presenting the vehicle for inspection. If these obligations are not paid, the inspection will be suspended.

According to the Ombudsman, the changes outlined in this way violate the rights of citizens.
