Our call is that the budget in its current form should not be adopted, because it poses a serious danger to Bulgaria. This was stated by the PP-DB MP Martin Dimitrov in the program “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS. He shared that the financial framework for the coming years provides for unprecedented levels of tax burden and state debt.
According to Dimitrov, the draft budget includes “dangerous texts for a century-long increase in the tax and social security burden, an unprecedented increase in liabilities and plans for assuming debts”. The MP stressed that in two years the government plans to take on 39 billion leva of new debt. "In 2026, Bulgaria would take on 55 million leva of debt per day", he explained, describing this as "something that has never happened".
Martin Dimitrov said that the only way for the government to listen to criticism is through strong public pressure. "They understand only when there is a position of strength, when there is public pressure", he said.
The PP-DB MP called on citizens, businesses and the middle class to come out for a peaceful, civilized protest on Tuesday to state that they do not accept a record increase in taxes and social security contributions and the burden on business through SUPTO, which, according to him, will cost small businesses about 1,000 leva in additional costs. He also mentioned the additional burden on workers and employers, who will pay about 600 leva more in social security contributions annually.
Dimitrov also commented on the way in which state funds are distributed. “These are huge funds, taken in the form of loans, which are flowing into the sands of this government's insane spending”, the MP pointed out.
Although the PP-DB has not held a special meeting on the topic, Dimitrov stressed that the group's position is categorical and unified. “We want a total revision. We want the government to abandon raising dividend tax and social security contributions, to abandon direct harassment of business through SUPTO and other insane initiatives. We have specific demands and this is the position of the entire parliamentary group”, he stated.
