For me, the 2026 budget should provide someone with elections without reforms and a vision for economic development. Without production and economy, social measures cannot be self-sufficient, there is no way to just empty the treasury. This is how Vice President Iliana Yotova commented on the budget plan that was adopted at first reading in parliament, quoted by Nova TV.
The Vice President sharply criticized the fiscal framework for 2026. "No matter how much they try to say that this is the best budget, obviously no one is satisfied with it. Several things are disturbing - the shortened deadlines between the two readings, after all, this is the most important law and the future of the state. The budget promises a new 10 billion leva debt, which is an extremely worrying element,", believes Iliana Yotova.
According to her, the protests – both the unions and the decisions of the Sofia Municipality have a common point and this is the dissatisfaction of the people.
Regarding the words of the MP from “BSP-United Left” Atanas Atanasov, that she is part of the possible contenders for head of state in the elections next year, Yotova said: "It is too early to answer whether I would enter the presidential race. I thank my colleagues from the BSP for the recognition".
She refused to comment on whether she had discussed her possible candidacy with the BSP. According to her, the constant comments about creating a party by President Radev cause serious fear.
