I am worried that with this arrogant behavior, the ruling party will bring even more people to the square and then the question of power will be raised, warned in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio the leader of DSB Gen. Atanas Atanasov, part of the PP-DB parliamentary coalition.
What does the PP-DB aim to achieve with the protest, which focuses on a problem, not a person - to shake the government so that it falls, Gen. Atanasov said:
"That depends on the people in the square, it doesn't matter. What I or our group think doesn't matter. If the actions of the ruling party satisfy the square, the energy may subside. "
The general is categorical that the budget cannot be procedurally revised.
"Borisov's initial move was correct - to withdraw the budget, then I don't know who got into his head. The period between the first and second readings has expired. The only way is to start the procedure from the beginning. Once again, the ruling party intends to violate the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, and this is about the fundamental law of the state. I have never seen such arrogance. Can you reduce the deadline for a 350-page bill to the smallest - 3 days. Exceptional arrogance! And now they can't revise it! We'll see what tricks they will use. This is an initiative of Delyan Dobrev or Delyan Peevski, we'll see", commented the DSB leader.
He is categorical that if the ruling party wants to hear the opposition, "we sit at the negotiating table in the National Assembly, and not in the squares to talk".
"They do not respect the opposition and do not want to hear it. Since they do not want to, they brought the opposition to the streets. These young people at the protest want to see a European Bulgaria, not Putin's Russia", the general added.
He commented that at the protest the opposition was united and together, but only in terms of the budget.
"But we have dividing lines on geopolitics and international politics. I am not a supporter of the Fatherland Front," said Atanas Atanasov.
He announced that the PP-DB coalition has the final right to sign an agreement with the Forum for Democratic Action to nominate a joint presidential candidate.
And he commented on the proposal of GERB leader Boyko Borisov for a joint candidacy against Rumen Radev:
"If GERB is interested in Bulgaria having a pro-Western president, a Euro-Atlanticist, who will oppose Russian interests in Bulgaria, let them support our initiative. I will not comment on what Borisov, rationally thinking, wants, to have a president nominated by GERB. At this stage, we from the democratic community have the final right to initial an agreement to nominate a joint presidential candidate from the PP-DB coalition together with this informal group, the Forum for Democratic Action. This will be our behavior."
And he recommended that the government immediately stop all procedures for replacing the heads of the special services, "especially the National Security Agency, because this is an attempt by the government to usurp the services."
