Tsveta Rangelova: The resignation of the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet is a victory for the citizens - 1

The resignation of the government is a victory for the citizens. This was said in „Panorama“ on BNT by Tsveta Rangelova from "Vazrazhdane".

„Bulgarian citizens - they are the ones who did something that is unheard of in our modern history - people protesting not only in Sofia, but also in all the larger cities of the country. This is energy that should not be wasted“, Rangelova also said.

According to her, the main motives of the protesters were the lack of a balanced budget and concerns about joining the eurozone:

„People, for the first time, under the threat of the upcoming winter and the lack of an adequate budget, took to the streets. The victory belongs to the Bulgarian citizens. I hope that this energy will not be lost, but will be transferred to high voter turnout, because the protest itself, although successful, if there is no participation in the elections, will lead to people taking to the streets again.“

On the topic of the eurozone, Rangelova pointed out that „Vazrazhdane“ will not give up on its attempts to postpone or derogate Bulgaria's accession:

„As long as we have opportunities and leverage, we will not stop trying to bring this battle to an end. It has been waged since 2018, we have made numerous petitions for a referendum, we have referred the Constitutional Court and the court in Luxembourg to cancel our accession to the eurozone.“

Rangelova also commented on the meeting with Ursula von der Leyen, which "Vazrazhdane" wants to hold in order to present their arguments against Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone.

„We do not expect Ursula von der Leyen to say „yes“, but we will not stop trying" she said.

Rangelova also commented on possible allies and opponents in the next parliament.

„We are not yet in an election campaign and all the players on the political terrain are not clear. We would probably never govern with GERB and DPS. "Vazrazhdane" is the only opposition party with consistent positions over the years.“
