Influencers Association: None of our members received funds to advertise the protest or counter-protest

In connection with signals, suggestions and allegations that have appeared in the public space that influencers have received funds to encourage or deter citizens from participating in the civil protests, the Influencers Association sent an official declaration:

DECLARATION of the Influencers Association

In connection with signals, suggestions and allegations that have appeared in the public space that influencers have received funds to encourage or deter citizens from participating in the civil protests that took place last month in Sofia and other cities in the country, the Influencers Association states the following:

After an internal review involving all members of the Association, we categorically state that none of the members of the Influencers Association have received funds or any form of remuneration for the purpose of:
• to advertise the protest or counter-protest;
• to encourage people to participate or not to participate in protest actions;
• to take a paid position in support of or against civil discontent.

Influencers – members of the Association who attended the protests and covered them on social media did so entirely out of their own conviction, as free citizens and public figures, and expressed their position as they personally perceive it.

The Association of Influencers supports Generation Z and their demands for:
• better education;
• effective counteraction to corruption;
• a better life and more opportunities for young people in Bulgaria;
• a better future for the country;
• as well as all other fair demands aimed at social progress.

We believe that every public figure inevitably participates in public and political life through their positions, opinions and values. However, there is a clear difference between engagement with public and civic issues and participation in organized party activity.

The Association of Influencers does not participate in the activities of political parties, does not carry out party activities and is not part of structures
related to internal party processes or political organizing.

If a specific influencer at a given time makes a personal decision to get involved in a political project, initiative or formation, this will be his personal decision, and not a position or action of the Association.

The Association of Influencers is open to dialogue, conversations and proposals from all people, organizations and institutions with whom good practices, causes and initiatives in the public interest can be implemented. At the same time, the Association makes its decisions after open discussion within the Management Board, and topics and initiatives of broader importance are shared and discussed together with all members.

The Association of Influencers will continue to support all good ideas and initiatives that contribute to the better development of Bulgaria and the future of young people in the country.
