National Company “Railway Infrastructure“ has completed the procedures for selecting a contractor for the projects for the modernization of the railway section Sofia – Pernik – Radomir and Gyueshevo – border with the Republic of North Macedonia. Both projects are part of Corridor VIII, and their implementation is an important step towards renewing the railway network and improving regional connectivity between the Black and Adriatic Seas.
For the contractor of the project “Modernization of the railway line Sofia – Pernik – Radomir, railway section Pernik - Radomir“, the participant DZZD “ISPA“ was ranked first with a contract price of 421,283,219 leva excluding VAT. The investment envisages the modernization of the Pernik - Radomir section, the construction of a double railway line for speeds up to 160 km/h, the renovation of the track development at the stations and the complete elimination of level crossings with road and pedestrian traffic. The implementation deadline is by mid-2029.
In the project for the modernization of the railway section Gyueshevo - border with the Republic of North Macedonia, the company DZZD “GYUESHEVO 2025“ was ranked first with a contract price of 97,972,691.73 leva excluding VAT. The scope includes the design and construction of the missing 2.4 km of railway line to the border with our southwestern neighbor and the reconstruction of the track development and reception building at Gyueshevo station. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
