Electricity bills also depend on consumers. The price of electricity for household consumers was the same until the end of June this year - December was one, and now January is the same. The higher bill prices can be explained by the greater consumption of electricity or the longer reporting period.
This was stated in the program "Denyat na Zivo" on NOVA NEWS by the chairman of the General Assembly of AIKB Vasil Velev, who commented on the topic of high electricity prices for businesses.
"The price of electricity is high for non-household consumers. This price is almost twice the price for household consumers and is the highest price in all of Europe. All this is destroying businesses, because the price of electricity in the USA and China, our main competitors, is many times lower than that in Europe, and Bulgarian businesses pay the highest price in Europe. This is due to a short-sighted state policy for compensations. Compensations are supposedly provided until June, but first we have to survive until then", he added.
"Economic activity is decreasing and for this reason - the extremely high prices of electricity. This contributes to inflation and reduces our competitiveness. In January there was an administrative increase in the minimum wage by 12.5% and a price increase. At the same time, economic activity is decreasing for the third consecutive year. The submitted budget has put people on the streets, including businesses. This budget is disastrous," Vasil Velev was categorical.
