Due to a kilometer-long queue of cars formed on Romanian territory, the so-called “adaptive regime“ of crossing the "Danube Bridge" near Ruse – Giurgiu has been changed as of today, NOVA reported.
This was announced by the regional governor Dragomir Draganov.
Until now, traffic on both sides of the river was regulated at equal intervals of 20 minutes. Due to the concentration of a large number of travelers, mainly tourists to Bulgaria, the temporary distribution is as follows:
• from Romania to Bulgaria, cars are allowed to pass for 20 minutes, and back to Romania – for 10 minutes.
Earlier today, the interval for crossing to Bulgaria was extended even to 30 minutes. Romanian authorities have temporarily restricted heavy goods traffic to facilitate the crossing.
“We expect this regime to continue until midnight today at the latest. In the event of a concentration of more vehicles on the Bulgarian side, the border authorities will extend the period of passage to Romania“, Draganov explained.
He specified that the major repair of the Bulgarian section, which began on July 10, 2024, is being carried out on time. The work is expected to be completed by mid-July this year.
