147 pages of the file on the Petrohan case have been provided to the deputies in the National Assembly. Among them are the testimonies from the interrogations of the closest relatives of the five dead men and a 15-year-old youth.
For the first time, the pages from the interrogations of the so-called Lolita from Mexico – wife of Deyan Iliev, who was the first to report the tragedy in the Petrohan hut, bTV reported.
In her testimony, the Mexican Lolita, the wife of Deyan Iliev, who was the first to report what happened in the former “Petrohan“ hut, said that six people lived in the house. She says that she did not contact them directly, but through her husband, because she does not speak Bulgarian. The woman explains that she often saw the people living in the hut stressed.
“Regarding them, Deyan told me that they were stressed because of their work. I don't know anything else about them. We go to Petrohan to fill our bottles with water from a fountain. Deyan said that once, while he was pouring water, a man took a picture of him without knowing why, and he found it very strange“, shares Lolita.
It is clear from her testimony that on the morning of February 2, when she and her husband went up to the hut because of the alarming message from Ivaylo Kalushev's mother, they first saw that the building was on fire and smoking.
Deyan went to the building, but quickly returned to the car, and then left a second time to find his friends.
“When he returned the second time, Deyan was terrified, crying and shaking, he could barely speak... We kept in touch with Deyan's father the whole time“, says the woman.
After finding them in the yard and calling 112, Deyan returned to the hut with the border police, writes Lolita's testimony. He locks her up at home.
„When we got to the house, Deyan told me to lock myself inside and stay in touch with his father. Then the testimony began, they detained Deyan for 24 hours, he was at the station the whole time, I was very worried“, Lolita's story continues.
According to the investigators, Deyan Iliev was questioned twice in the case. We can say that shortly after the interrogations of Deyan and Lolita, they both disappeared from their house in the village of Gintsi. The prosecutor's office explains that at the moment they know where they are and have not declared them wanted because there is no need. And by law, no one obliges them to stay in the country.
According to the investigation, Deyan Iliev's home in Gintsi was searched immediately after the interrogations, but nothing was found. And his phone was seized and given for examination because Deyan refused to unlock his phone and cooperate.
In addition to Lolita's interrogations, the documents that were handed over to the deputies also included materials from the appointed examinations.
The prosecutor's office also handed over the interrogations of children associated with Ivaylo Kalushev at different times. Some of them were also questioned after the tragedy in the presence of a psychologist.
No one said anything bad about Ivaylo Kalushev's group or about the violence that was practiced. In their interrogations, everyone from the group was described as, and I quote: "good people."
From the interrogation of the father of the deceased 22-year-old Nikolay Zlatkov, it becomes clear that after the child and his mother left for Mexico, the father received information about Ivaylo Kalushev's community. What he learned worried him and he went to Mexico. There he talked to Ivaylo Kalushev.
In 2022, he and Nikolay met in the hut and then his father met Ivaylo Ivanov and the other men.
Meanwhile, today the Ministry of Internal Affairs officially announced that the cartridges and bullets found in the hut, which Deyan Iliev testified about, were not fired from a firearm. According to experts, if the cartridges were not loaded into a weapon and were subjected to thermal impact - for example, a fire, then the gunpowder inside the cartridge can ignite spontaneously.
