Mayors of city halls from all over the country gather in front of the home of the mayor of Bistritsa, Samuil Popov.
They are doing this, as on Monday the man's car and front door were set on fire by unknown persons.
In the context of the police investigation into the arson, the National Association of Mayors of City Halls stated in a declaration that the deliberate arson is an act that "should be condemned by society", because it shows that "safety in the performance of official duties and democracy in our country are grossly trampled".
The Association of Mayors says that the actions are a direct threat to the foundations of statehood and public order.
The Mayor of Bistritsa Samuil Popov said that with his business he has no enemies and nothing personal against anyone.
Last summer, masked men with bats broke into the city hall. Because of this, the Association of Mayors asked what was done about this signal.
Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, the PP-DB and GERB -SDF group in the Municipal Council in the capital also demanded an investigation into the incident.
