Bulgaria already has a caretaker government, and the first resignation of the Deputy Prime Minister for Fair Elections Stoil Tsitselkov was already given and accepted just hours after his appointment. The caretaker government and the upcoming elections were commented on by Emil Dimitrov and Evgeniy Kanev on the program “Na Fokus”.

"The composition of the caretaker government arouses great optimism, because it has extremely competent people. I congratulate Andrey Gyurov for having managed to assemble such a team in such a short time," said Evgeniy Kanev regarding the composition of the caretaker cabinet.

"If we look at the big picture, we have not yet completed the transition. We made a transition to a market economy and a multi-party political system, but we could not make the transition to the rule of law, which is the supreme principle of the European Union. This is the first basic Copenhagen criterion for EU membership, which we did not cover in 2007," he said.

"There is no way we can move forward towards normal European democracy if these reforms are not implemented, which should have been implemented back in 2007, and if we complete this transition to a normal European state, which means the rule of law. That is where all the problems that result from the fact that we are not a state governed by law come from," Kanev added.

According to Emil Dimitrov, the post of Stoil Tsitelkov, who was supposed to be responsible for fair elections in the official cabinet, was unnecessary. "This post should not have been called that at all, since the elections are held by the CEC, and the Council of Ministers only assists", commented Dimitrov.

"Currently we have a government that is supported only by one of the political forces - PP-DB, all other parties in the current parliament are against it for understandable reasons. Everyone will say that they are dissatisfied with the elections. That is, these people are doomed to hold elections that will be declared unfair", he said about the official cabinet.

Regarding the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, he stated that Bulgaria is a country of overdue mandates. "Sarafov should have been gone a long time ago, there should have been a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council to elect the new Prosecutor General", commented Dimitrov.
