We are observing the panicky moves of a system that feels its end.
This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by the acting Minister of Interior Emil Dechev.
"Yesterday evening I was informed by the leadership of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation that the prosecutor's office has ordered a preliminary investigation against me.
After Mr. Sarafov ceased to be the acting prosecutor general at the end of July, he took on the role of an acting film critic, a fan of the film "Twin Peaks". He began to introduce us to a predetermined version of what happened in Petrohan, which helped many people film. This horror movie script will not scare me. There is no going back.
A script from the scriptwriters, from Slavi Trifonov's former show, appeared in the prosecutor's office in the form of a signal. Instead of seeking the objective truth in the "Petrohan - Okolchitsa" case, about the attack on the mayor of Bistritsa, about all unsolved and uninvestigated crimes in the state, the prosecutor's office is going into a panic attack against me, as the Minister of Internal Affairs.
I am ready to provide full cooperation to my colleagues from the GDBOP, he assured in the program "Predi visci".
Yesterday it became clear that the government is proposing to President Yotova to release the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Miroslav Rashkov. Interior Minister Emil Dechev, on the other hand, called on journalists to help in the search for his deputy Yavor Serafimov. In the meantime, he met with police officers working on the "Petrohan" and "Okolchitsa" cases and denied the information that he had put pressure on them in connection with the investigation.
"The Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior disappeared yesterday. He did not officially inform me, nor did any other employee in the ministry convey to me the information that he was in hospital".
No pressure was put on anyone, the minister emphasized on the occasion of his meeting with an investigating police officer.
"It is true that I have met with a colleague who is working on the "Petrohan" case. The only reason is to get acquainted with this case as quickly as possible. We had a coffee, then we parted ways.
There are people who want to make something grandiose out of this case. As a manager, I have the right to get acquainted with everything that happens in the Ministry of Internal Affairs at any time. We don't have days off. My task is to get in as quickly as possible so that I can provide full assistance to my colleagues.
I have a suspicion that information can leak out anywhere when I want to find out something important, Dechev noted.
"This gives rise to a preliminary scenario that I must necessarily be shown as a person who does not want the truth about the "Petrohan" case to be revealed. and who puts pressure on the investigators.
On Friday evening, when I met with the Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Yavor Serafimov, to explain to him that we would have to separate, I gave him several reasons and everything related to why we had to separate. There was no mistrust expressed in any way towards the investigative team, I did not say that he should be fired or that they should be transferred to another sector or department. I did not say that they should stop investigating this case and that other investigating police officers should be appointed. But immediately after this meeting, information leaked out that I wanted to fire them".
Emil Dechev explained that he also had a conversation with the Secretary General.
"Almost the entire conversation was about the motives in my proposal to issue a decree for his release. What I told him was related to the poorly executed way in which the police worked to secure the rally on November 26, when they failed to successfully isolate the provocateurs. This endangered the lives and health of both the peacefully protesting citizens and the police themselves, and led to arson.
