Rashkov: I am leaving the Ministry of Interior due to pressure in the "Petrokhan" case - 1

Former Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Miroslav Rashkov announced that he is leaving the system due to political pressure related to the investigation in the "Petrokhan" case. In an emotional address to his colleagues, he stated that the reason for his removal was not "speculative motives," but "attempts to block the investigation and crush professionals." Rashkov warned of an expected wave of dismissals in the Ministry of Interior, which he said would be presented as actions to guarantee fair elections. He stated this in his position, 24 chasa reported.

We recall that yesterday President Iliana Yotova signed a decree terminating the powers and dismissing the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Miroslav Rashkov. Previously, – On February 24, Interior Minister Emil Dechev announced that he had proposed to the Council of Ministers to make a decision to propose to the President to dismiss the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Miroslav Rashkov.

Here is Rashkov's entire statement:

I thank all my colleagues for our joint work over the past 20 years in the Ministry of Interior. I have always defended and will continue to defend all employees of the Ministry of Interior. The professions of policeman and firefighter are among the most dignified in Bulgaria and certainly the most dangerous. Often, at the risk of your own life, you protect the lives, property and rights of Bulgarian citizens. That is why it was a great recognition for me to be one of you, and in recent years, your professional leader.

I owe all of you an honest answer to the question of why I am leaving the Ministry of Interior. It is not because of the manipulations in the speculative motives for my removal. Or because of the holding of fair elections, which today's caretaker government cannot guarantee. The real reason is the investigation into the "Petrohan" case and the removal of traces that lead to a specific political force in the National Assembly and the network of non-governmental organizations closely related to it. How its political avatars work in the caretaker government became clear during the hearing in the National Assembly yesterday. These people, even in their capacity as ministers, open "offices" of the Ministry of Interior in restaurants, where they accustom their subordinate employees. Something that happens for the first time in the professional career of these employees. I leave it to the conscience of the caretaker Minister of Interior how he intends to work while holding this position. But I do not accept the crushing of investigations and colleagues because of their official position.

I will continue to support them outside the Ministry of Interior as well. Because I expect an avalanche of further dismissals of professionals, disguised as actions related to the conduct of fair elections.

The investigation into the "Petrokhan" case has nothing to do with the elections on April 19, but the first dismissals in the Ministry of Interior are because of the work done by all colleagues on it. I trust the investigators in the "Petrokhan" case, I am sure that they will withstand the political pressure to block the investigation.

Forever one of you, colleagues!
