European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva: I have not been charged with a specific charge, only a blanket form for a serious violation - 1

Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva told NOVA that there is no clearly formulated charge against her, after the European Prosecutor's Office officially announced that it had established a serious violation in the disciplinary investigation against Georgieva. No specific sanction has been imposed against her. However, the prosecutor remains temporarily suspended from office. Only the Court of Justice of the European Union has the authority to eventually remove her from office.
„There is no specific charge, only a blanket form for a serious violation. I ask you, as a media outlet, to contact the European Prosecutor's Office, which will tell you exactly what this serious violation is, because I know what the facts are. A disciplinary panel of five respected, extremely experienced judges has decided that a reprimand should be imposed,“ commented Georgieva.
According to her, it remains unclear how this recommendation developed into a proposal for a more severe punishment.

The disciplinary proceedings against the Bulgarian European Prosecutor were initiated due to her actions in an investigation related to the expansion of the “Chiren“ gas storage facility.
Meanwhile, Acting Justice Minister Andrey Yankulov commented that the case represents “another heavy blow to the image of the Bulgarian judiciary“. According to him, the situation once again raises the question of the need for more decisive action against unregulated influences and parallel structures in the judicial system.
