We have information that there is indeed a large increase in consumption. But there are illogical bills of consumers. From this inspection by the Energy Regulatory Commission, it turns out that there are consumers with absurd indicators. We need to find out if this is from a cyberattack, from manipulation of devices, from damaged devices. This was stated by Ivan Hinovski, an energy expert, to bTV, quoted by novini.bg.
Dimitar Margaritov, former chairman of the Consumer Protection Association, emphasized: “Consumer protection needs quick actions, not loud statements. If it is found that a lower voltage was applied, that the device's indicators were not correctly read before Christmas - this is an unfair practice.“
Peter Anastasov, who has a home in Bulgaria but lives in Crete, shared: “Gradually, bills in Bulgaria have become almost double. My family of three in Crete spends as much as my father - a single person - in Bulgaria. Last winter, the bill was half of the current one - 58 euros, and we in Crete for three people pay 47 euros.“
Margaritov specified: “It is clear that there is an escalation in prices. There has been a lot of talk in recent years, but little is being done, and people do not trust the institutions and do not want to file complaints. The problem is not the long time it takes to decide on the complaint, but the fact that you have to pay your bill while you wait for them to decide whether it is real.“
„More than 10 years ago, a government fell for such reasons. I would advise people to file complaints, to be active - this will cause a reaction. Representatives of the electricity distribution companies must say what happened, bear the sanctions, and consumers must be compensated“, he added.
„I would not say that someone is playing with electricity. This is just a coincidence“, Hinovski believes.“
