Parvan Simeonov: The starting positions of Progressive Bulgaria look very good - 1

When there is a new major entity in the political picture, there are many unknowns – last-minute mobilizations are never ruled out. It is still too early to talk about what the next parliament would look like, but after five agencies showed starting shares of about 1/3 of the expected voters, the starting positions of the new project look very good.

This was stated on the air of Radio FOCUS in the program ''Metronome'' by the director of the sociological agency ''Myara'' Parvan Simeonov regarding the new political party "Progressive Bulgaria", with which the president (2017 - 2026) will run in the early parliamentary elections.

Simeonov said that it is too early to talk about a possible majority in the next parliament.

''It would be one thing if the BSP passed the 4% barrier, it would be another without them. It would be one thing if GERB and "DPS - New Beginning" have more than 80 deputies - that is, all the others have less than 160 - the necessary majority for changes in the Supreme Judicial Council“, he said.

The sociologist did not rule out the possibility that Bulgaria will enter a spiral of elections in order to strengthen Radev's political project.

''Here the question is whether a series of elections will work more to strengthen or erode this project – as a rule, in subsequent elections, the parties that have made a surprising breakthrough continue to grow“, he said and gave as examples the parties ''Ima takvi narod'' and ''Vazrazhdane''.

''With Rumen Radev, however, things do not look like that – He seems to be a foregone conclusion in this election, and a new election would certainly not increase his vote – of course, that could happen. I would not bet on new elections, but on the upcoming activation“, he said and added that the high voter turnout would work precisely and especially for Radev.

''The competition is for an anti-GERB, anti-DPS and anti-status quo vote, which seemed to lean more towards PP-DB as the main opposition force in December and January, but after Radev's appearance, it seems that a very solid part of this vote will reorient itself towards him“, the sociologist believes and added that Radev and PP-DB are in a mutually beneficial position because they do not interfere ideologically and maximize the vote in both fields.

''But they are competitors in this anti-Borisov and Peevski vote'', he said and added that the BSP is a competitor to Radev because "There is a new momentum with the leadership of Krum Zarkov."

"At the same time, if we assume that Radev's project is closest to 110 seats in parliament, the BSP also appears as an ideal partner," he said.
