The Sofia Municipality continues the phased modernization of lighting in the parks of Sofia. The Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, together with the Deputy Mayor for Ecology, Eng. Nikolay Nedelkov, checked on site how the maintenance and renovation of the South Park is going - one of the most important green areas in the capital.
Currently, the teams of the OP “Parks and City Gardens“ are working on improving the lighting in the park. 30 new energy-saving LED lighting fixtures are being installed along two alleys, which until now had insufficient lighting. Where necessary, existing pillars are also being restored to ensure better visibility and higher security for park visitors.
New lighting is also to be installed at several other points in the South Park, including the alley from “Byala Cherkva“ Str.
The work on the modernization of park lighting is part of the consistent policy of the Sofia Municipality to improve the urban environment. The beginning was made in 2024 with the large-scale renovation of the lighting in the South and West Parks. Since then, a number of emblematic places in Sofia have been illuminated, including the spaces around the National Theater, the Monument to Vasil Levski and the Monument to St. St. Cyril and Methodius, and the “Zaimov“ Park received new lighting at the end of 2025.
The Sofia Municipality will continue its consistent work on replacing and building lighting, maintaining and cleaning the parks, as well as improving the green system in the city, so that Sofia's parks meet the standards of modern European capitals.
