Acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov appealed to Bulgarian citizens to exercise their right to vote. In a post on his Facebook page, he stressed the importance of active participation in the electoral process, quoted by Nova TV.
The Prime Minister recalled that at the end of last year, thousands of Bulgarians took to the streets across the country with a clear message against corruption and abuse of power. “They said a dignified NO to the feeling that power is a means for the personal use of a few“, the Prime Minister said.
In his post, he noted that the Ministry of Interior has initiated actions against vote buying. “Democracy is not a commodity and the people's vote is not for sale“, emphasizes Gyurov. According to him, the government is introducing clear rules, guaranteeing the secrecy of the vote and taking measures against pressure on voters.
The caretaker prime minister is adamant that fair elections do not depend solely on institutions. “No government can guarantee fair elections alone. The strongest defense of democracy is the participation of citizens“, he states. Gyurov also made a direct appeal: “Go out and vote“.

According to him, the government's task is to ensure a fair electoral process, and the responsibility of citizens is to exercise their right to vote.
