April 20, the day after the parliamentary elections, will be a non-school day for the entire education system. This was announced by the acting Minister of Education, Prof. Sergey Ignatov, in an interview with the student media of NBU - NewBlog 4U, bTV reported.

"With this, we will mark the beginning of the national celebration of 150 years since the outbreak of the April Uprising and the firing of the first gun, he said and added that there will be events throughout the day – offering flowers and wreaths, competitions, contests", said the Minister of Education and added that he would propose that the date become an official, and why not a national holiday.

According to him, without April 20 there would be no March 3, and that is why it is the Day of Bulgarian Dignity, when the Third Bulgarian State was born.

Minister Ignatov also outlined a vision for the future of education. The Bulgarian school is a platform for civic education. Practice is more important than theory, which is why I am skeptical that this subject “virtues“ can be learned from a textbook, he said. The school must be free from political propaganda, but politics can be talked about, Minister Ignatov is categorical.

According to him, the only way for universities to prepare young people for tomorrow's market is to teach them to be flexible and make decisions themselves. To have competence and skills, to be able to quickly adjust. And what will remain forever after the end of the world is humanitarian education and the development of psychology.

Prof. Sergey Ignatov commented that now the fashion has come for people who can manage human beings. He emphasized that artificial intelligence is a useful thing, but if the process is not properly regulated, it can strike and take away natural intelligence. The teacher has a key role in education, he leaves an imprint of his soul in the soul of the student, he also said.

For Minister Ignatov, it is a cause for students to have more free time so that they can make sense of what they have learned.
