Christine Lagarde marked Bulgaria's first hundred days in the Eurozone  - 1

One hundred days since Bulgaria joined the eurozone, the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde noted in a post on social networks.

„100 days have passed since Bulgaria adopted the euro – from 12 countries using our single currency in 2002 to 21 today“, Lagarde said, referring to the period from 1 January to the present.

The celebration was accompanied by a short video clip presenting the development of the euro over the years.

It recalls that in 2002 the currency was used by around 305 million people in 12 countries, with approximately 7.8 billion euro banknotes in circulation.

The euro is currently used by around 358 million people in 21 countries, with 30.9 billion banknotes in circulation.
