We have prepared some election surprises for people who have not yet heeded our calls and advice not to violate the law, not to commit crimes related to the election process. This was said by the acting Minister of Interior Emil Dechev in response to a question from BTA whether there are any specific measures that the police will take to preserve public order and security in the Pleven village of Bukovlak on election day on April 19, where one of the largest polling stations in the Pleven region is located.
For understandable reasons, our Ministry of Interior will not share these surprises, he added.
The acting Minister presented data on the received signals for election violations and crimes as of today's date, specifically for the territory of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Pleven.
As of 09:00 this morning, there were 55 signals for crimes related to the elections. For comparison, two days before the last elections on October 27, 2024, there were 24. The total number of pre-trial and expedited proceedings initiated for crimes against the political rights of citizens is now 18, while in 2024 there were six. The detainees were 14 people then, and now there are 13, the acting Minister of Interior also said. He added that the number of warning protocols under the Ministry of Interior Law is now 131, and in 2024 - 57.
Regarding the country, the acting minister said that the total number of signals for election crimes and violations is 2066.
