The processing of the ballot papers continued until the morning in the “Arena 8888” hall in Sofia. After the end of election day last night, the sections serving the 25th and 23rd district election commissions arrived there. The members of the sectional commissions commented that there were problems with the machines, but after a brief diagnosis by the technicians on duty, the problems were eliminated.
According to NOVA, shortly before 8 am, the acceptance of protocols ended.
There was a delay among the counting staff due to the requirement that the ballots and the clippings from the machines be placed in separate bags, as well as because there were voters with non-existent preferences. Despite some obstacles, most sectional commissions finished processing the ballot papers in less than an hour.
„My expectations were that the sectional election commissions would do better. Unfortunately, there are again many incorrect protocols. We hope at least they counted the election results correctly”, said Polina Vitanova, chairwoman of 23 RECs and MEC.
„There were many new members – completely new commissions with people who have not participated before. So I guess that's why. They also worked with a reduced composition, and there was a huge voter turnout in our region – over 60%”, she explained further.
„The mistakes are in incorrectly distributed preferences, which they make a lot of mistakes in every type of election”, said Vitanova.
