GERB-SDF submits bill to amend the State Debt Act - 1

The GERB-SDF parliamentary group submitted a bill to amend and supplement the State Debt Act on the first working day of the 52nd National Assembly, thereby declaring a clear commitment to expanding the savings and investment opportunities of Bulgarian citizens. This was announced by the party's press center.

The main emphasis in the proposed changes is the creation of a regulated mechanism for issuing government securities (GS) directly to individuals, without the need for intermediaries, BTA reported.

The party states that this bill aims to ensure easy, transparent and equal access to government investment instruments for all citizens, regardless of their financial capabilities. The creation of a free electronic platform is envisaged, as well as the possibility of purchasing government securities through the branch network of “Bulgarian Posts“, without additional fees and commissions. This offers a real alternative to traditional bank deposits, with a higher degree of security and predictability.

The draft law emphasizes flexibility and trust in the system, by introducing the possibility of voluntary early redemption of securities before maturity. At the same time, full transparency is guaranteed through clearly announced conditions, profitability and terms, which creates a stable and predictable environment for investors.

The proposed measures are part of a broader vision to increase financial literacy and encourage long-term savings among the population. Through the direct participation of citizens in public finances, a stronger connection between the state and society is built, as well as a more sustainable economic culture, consistent with European standards and good practices.

BTA recalls that today the members of the 52nd National Assembly took the oath. At the first ceremonial session, Michaela Dotsova from “Progressive Bulgaria“ (PB) was elected as the Speaker of the Parliament. Six parliamentary groups were established and six deputy speakers of the National Assembly were elected.
