ERM West reports increased attacks on facilities in the electricity distribution network, including transformer substations, from which transformer oil is being stolen.
The company warns that such actions are extremely dangerous, can lead to serious accidents and create a direct risk to the life and health of both the perpetrators and people near the facilities.
Unregulated access to facilities in the electricity distribution infrastructure, oil draining or damage to equipment can lead to voltage drops, fire, serious technical failures and prolonged power outages.
Theft of transformer oil is not an ordinary attack on property. It directly threatens the security of power supply to households, businesses, public buildings, agricultural sites and important services. As a result of such actions, a large number of customers may be left without power, and its restoration is often complicated and requires significant resources and time.
ERM Zapad draws attention to the fact that transformer oil is not intended for use as fuel, lubricant or for other household, transport or agricultural purposes. Its use or transportation in cars, agricultural machinery and other machines poses a risk of damage, accidents, pollution in the event of spillage and dangerous situations for drivers and others.
The company calls on citizens, mayors of settlements, agricultural producers and all competent institutions to be especially careful and to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or actions near transformer substations and other electrical facilities. Reports are submitted to the Ministry of Interior, by calling 112, as well as through the official contact channels listed on the ERM West website.
The company reminds that the power distribution facilities are under voltage and access to them is permitted only to qualified employees who have undergone special training and are equipped with protective equipment. The company actively cooperates with the Ministry of Interior and local authorities to limit attacks on the power distribution network and to quickly restore power in the event of accidents. ERM West calls for active civic responsibility, as the protection of the energy infrastructure is in the interest of the entire society.
