Mayors and residents of the villages of Karlovy Vary affected by the flood in 2022 are protesting because of the suspension of funding for projects to restore the damage, BNT reported.
The Sub-Balkan Road and the Troyan-Karnare Pass are expected to be blocked.
Bogdan, Karavelovo, Slatina, Rozino and Hristo Danovo suffered seriously after the water disaster on September 2, 2 years ago. After describing the damage, it became clear that more than BGN 75 million will be needed to restore the damaged infrastructure. So far, the municipality of Karlovo has received only 17 million, which is insufficient to complete the restoration activities, according to the Initiative Committee created by the mayor of Karlovo and the mayors of the affected villages. They urgently demand that 38 million BGN be allocated for 2024, with which to continue the implementation of the projects for the restoration of bridges, streets and ravines destroyed by the disaster in Karlovo and the villages.
They also want an additional 20 million lei to be provided in the budget of the Interdepartmental Commission for 2025, with which to complete the restoration of the infrastructure destroyed by the disaster.
