Elena Yoncheva becomes an MEP, despite her fifth place in the DPS list and only 1.38% preferences - 1

The DPS will have three deputies in the European Parliament, but those who were in the top two places on the list - co-chairman Jevdet Chakarov and Iskra Mihailova - will not go to Brussels. Chakarov, who was the leader and the third on the list - the long-time MEP Iskra Mihailova, will most likely give up their seats in the European Parliament, reported "Capital", referring to information from the headquarters of the DPS

Exactly such a prediction was made more than a month ago by the site "24 Rhodope". Even then, it was clear that Yoncheva's fifth place in the DPS list for the European Parliament was up for election, since at least two before her would give up.

Ilhan Kyuchyuk is at the head of the DPS Eurolist with the casts. He is also in the leadership of the European liberals from ALDE. Taner Kabilov - son of the former Minister of Agriculture Nihat Kabil, who is also the chairman of the youth structure of DPS, comes in second place. Third will be the former journalist, although she attracted only 1.38% of the preferential vote of the movement (or 4,072 voters out of a total of 295,052 for the DPS), since in general the preferential vote in the lists of the DPS is traditionally insignificant.

Chakarov's resignation from the seat in the European Parliament was expected because he is co-chairman of the DPS together with Delyan Peevski and it is logical for him to remain in the Bulgarian Parliament.

The explanation for Iskra Mihailova is that this is being done at her will, although in the previous European Parliament she was vice-chairman of the faction of the European liberals "Renew Europe".

It is believed that she will become a deputy in the National Assembly. Mihailova was the leader of the leaves of the movement in Pazardzhik. In addition, after the last national conference of the DPS, she became the vice-president of the party. She is also considered extremely close to Delyan Peevski.
