GERB and DPS have no prospect of going to new elections and are not even thinking about it.
This is what the economist Prof. Krasen Stanchev, founder of the Institute for Market Economy, predicted before the BNR.
"I don't see any problem in forming a government on a relatively broad footing - GERB with DPS and support from here and there. I think they can rule relatively long - at least until the new European Parliament starts work. It is possible that individual people will be brought in as experts", he commented and emphasized that it is very unlikely that there will be new elections in the autumn..
According to him, if for the third time GERB refuses to form a government after winning the elections, this will have a very bad effect on their performance in future elections.
Prof. Stanchev was categorical that the new government will not be in the format of an expert cabinet, but will be a coalition with clear political responsibility for it.
"What is happening both on the European and Bulgarian levels is a very complex dialogue between those who in the foreseeable future will always be a coalition - as the rulers of the country. DPS and GERB have no other perspective and for purely legal reasons. If until the recent changes in the Constitution, the Attorney General, whoever he was, could protect bandits from the public, now the politicians themselves must protect themselves and the bandits. Which is known progress, it is a democratic procedure.
Bulgaria must be more decisive in its support for Ukraine, this will also happen at the European level, Krasen Stanchev pointed out:
"This is the most important thing, because this is good for the economy and for the future. Some EU policies will be changed to something better and more reasonable. Green deal and minimum wage policies will be softened. ... It is very important that the confederal nature of the EU will be preserved, which means that there will be a very strong national element in the areas of taxation, social policy and administration of justice. Which is the original intention of the EU".
