More from this week BDZ will increase the number of trains between Sofia and Burgas. This became clear during a meeting between the Minister of Transport and Communications, Georgi Gvozdeikov, and the management of “BDZ Holding“ EAD and “BDZ-Passenger Transport“ Ltd.

The official minister requested a full investigation of all circumstances related to the train from Sofia to Burgas on Friday evening. “It is absurd for passengers to travel in this way, given that they have a purchased ticket, and someone has not done their job”, he added.

The Sofia-Burgas night train was 3 hours late, and dozens of people were traveling crammed into the corridor. One of the passengers told about what happened on social networks.

He boarded the train from the station in Plovdiv. It was reported there that the composition was running nearly 3 hours late. Instead of 1 o'clock, the train arrived at 3:40 and stayed at the station for about 20 minutes. Even when boarding, people saw that there were standing passengers traveling from Sofia.

On the occasion of claims by passengers that there were empty sleeping cars in the train, which were locked, BDZ assured that absolutely all seats in them were sold and occupied.

„We are gradually starting to equip the trains with electronic devices for selling tickets, which will completely solve this problem,” said BDZ-PP manager Vencislav Slavkov. Such devices are already operating on a pilot basis on the Sofia-Vidin line. Another 140 are yet to be put into operation, and the busiest trains in the country will be equipped with priority.

The railway carrier clarified that from today measures have been taken to increase the composition of the night train from Sofia to Burgas, with the inclusion of an additional carriage to serve the growing passenger flow in the summer. From this Friday, two more carriages will be added to the composition, and from June 29, another train will depart in the same direction. With this, there will be a total of 10 trains per day between the capital and the seaside city.

From today, a second train with 4 of the newly delivered German wagons is already traveling between Sofia and Burgas. It leaves the capital at 6:40 a.m. and returns in the afternoon. But they did not indicate what the delay would be.
