Throughout the transition years, Brendo was patronized both politically and by service representatives. This was stated before the BNR by the former Minister of Internal Affairs Tsvetan Tsvetanov, now the chairman of Republicans for Bulgaria.
"This is the operational information we had," he pointed out.
Tsvetanov recalled the cooperation with the Italian authorities on the case in 2012, when he was Minister of the Interior. "During his arrest, which Brendo did not expect, we found in his car a report that was provided by the Italian authorities to the Bulgarian authorities. There were 14 or 18 phones inside. He was in contact with various of his partners in a straight line. We managed, together with the Italian authorities, to detain the entire organized group on the territory of the country. After which they were handed over. Some served their sentences. If you follow the arrested persons in the "Brendo" case, you will see that some of them are now decisive factors in the local government.
Tsvetanov commented on Brendo's desire to serve his sentences in a Bulgarian prison.
"He may not be in good health and will receive some treatment with this broadcast. It is possible that he has worries about his life and it is better to surrender. With good behavior here, he can be released early," admitted the former interior minister.
If Brendo speaks, those who over the years patronized him and did not take any action to see what the investments made by him are, should have concerns, said the former interior minister. Tsvetanov commented on the words of Atanas Atanasov, who asked the president if snipers were guarding the home of Boyko Borisov. From "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" announced that they will demand in parliament that the acting prime minister and the interior minister be heard on the subject.
"The security around Borisov's house is probably related to the arrival of some operational information. It can be discussed by the parliamentary committee that deals with control over the services".
Tsvetanov believes that it is almost impossible to have a government with the first mandate. "I think that the third mandate could be implemented. PVU is something worth having a government for. However, it does not have a long-term horizon and will not implement the reforms that our country needs".
