Security and order in the city are a key topic for me and my team, because it is directly related to the quality of life in the city.

This is what the capital mayor Vasil Terziev wrote on his Facebook page. Here is the rest of his statement:

"After four failed tenders of the previous administration, we successfully completed the procedure for restoring the non-working cameras in Sofia. This means that around 400 cameras will be restored and these points will again be operational and included in the system.

At the same time, we are expanding the video surveillance network in the city:

- in Borisova gradina, the completion of video surveillance has begun

- video surveillance routes are being built around the migrant center in Ovcha Kupel

- in Krasna Polyana, the construction of the video surveillance routes also began

By the end of the month, we expect contracts to be signed for the construction of video surveillance in the following sites:

- district “Krasno selo“: DG 8 “Prof. Dr. Elka Petrova“, DG 142 and DG 145 “Bulgarian“

- "Lyulin" district: DG 55 "Iglika", DG 32 "Bulgarche", DG 86 "Asen Bossev", DG 95 "Omainiche" and DG 35 “Happy childhood”

- Novi Iskar district: DG 132 "Svetlina“

- area “Oborishte“: garden “Kylucitse“

- "Ilinden" area: "Holy Trinity" park

- area “Krasna Polyana“: “St. St. Peter and Paul“

- area “Triaditsa“: city garden “Bukata“

- “Revival“ - monument to the lawyers, saviors of the Bulgarian Jews

- on the territory of Krivina and Botunets

We know that cameras are not a panacea. But they are a step in the right direction. Because they are a tool for deterring violations and investigating crimes. Cameras can also help reduce vandalism in public spaces such as parks and gardens. And this will certainly make our Sofia a more beautiful and peaceful city".
