The Central Election Commission allowed DPS to participate in the partial local elections on October 20 for the mayor of 12 town halls and two Varna districts. Among the town halls are Lozen, Voynyagovo, Kovachevtsi and Koilovtsi. The CEC made this decision after receiving an application from the "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" party, signed by the representative of the formation, Jevdet Chakarov, through proxy Ceyhan Ibryamov. A request has been made for the name of the party in the ballot as Movement for Rights and Freedoms - DPS, BNR reports.
CEC chairman Dimitar Dimitrov stated:
"The necessary documents with which the party can be registered have been submitted. We have the necessary certificates as well as powers of attorney.
The Commission's decision states that a certificate of the party's current legal status, issued on August 27 of this year by the Sofia City Court, was attached to the application.
Last week, the CEC decided that the DPS will participate in partial local elections for the mayor of two more town halls - Gabrovnitsa, Montana municipality, and Omurtag municipality, Targovishte region.
