The specific object of the road infrastructure that gave rise to the dispute between the two is the project to unclog the big Sofia traffic jam on the boulevard “Tsar Boris III” and the Ring Road. The real architect, explained Terziev, is Petar Dikov. He graduated in "Architecture" at the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy. Until 2006, he was the executive director of the National Center for Territorial Development.
Terziev explained why trees had to be cut down on "Oplchenska" in the capital. The main reason is not to widen the roadway, the mayor explained.
"It's not because we don't like trees, it's normal for people to be embarrassed. We have gone to great lengths to see if these trees can be saved from being felled, we have investigated whether they can be relocated. Sewage pipes run under their roots. By cutting half the root, there is a risk that the tree will fall and become an accident. The main thing is not the expansion of the roadway, the most important thing is what happens underground: water supply, electricity supply. It is relevant to the quality of life in many other neighborhoods. Compensatory afforestation is planned, assured Vasil Terziev.
And added: "We hear the people. Anyone who has planted and watched a tree grow before their eyes is naturally sensitive.
On the subject of the garbage of Sofia residents, he commented: "We welded something that was not working. Today we shared many of the results achieved. We found a plant where much of the equipment was not working because it had not been maintained. 90% of the garbage was landfilled. We welded a horizon of a year and a half - two, in which to fill the fourth cell. We would have a litter problem that has already been solved. The garbage system is one of the reformed ones. The big and important goal for us is the garbage collection contracts for next year, the criteria in the procedures have been raised," assured Vasil Terziev.
