Ivo Zhelev: GERB's line is humility, condescension and readiness for compromises - 1

"In short, everyone is currently humble, humbled and ready for compromises. This is the line of Borisov and GERB in recent months. At the same time, however, GERB claims to take the largest electoral share and to be the leading political entity on which to eventually form a new regular government. No matter how banal it is, everything depends on the distribution of mandates in the new National Assembly. With this political landscape that we have, it's very hard to say what's going to happen",

This was stated by the sociologist Ivo Zhelev in the studio of the show "The Day ON AIR".

Zhelev commented that the BSP and other parties such as "There is such a people" face major challenges. Some of them may not even enter the parliament. The situation is such that most politicians are busy trying to retain their electorate instead of thinking about the future after the elections.

"There is always a chance. Borisov spoke on the subject because he is obliged to speak. Everyone expects that he will be the winner of the elections, and all eyes are on him with the expectation that he will offer something, at that, a working one," journalist Lyudmil Iliev told Bulgaria ON AIR.

Iliev emphasized the fact that although the chances of regular power always exist, at the moment the political forces seem distracted and focused primarily on their own survival.

According to him, the political parties do not seem to have a clear strategy for forming a coalition, and GERB will probably continue to try to dominate the government.

Zhelev stressed that the political parties are exhausted of ideas and cannot provide stability to the country. The possibility of forming coalitions between the parties remains uncertain.
