Sergey Stanishev: Bulgaria looks disgusting - 1

If the economic situation in Bulgaria worsens, combined with political irresponsibility and incompetence, this could lead to a blast.

This was stated by former Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev in the show "Supportive People". And he added that there are indications that this will happen.

On the topic of the early parliamentary elections, Stanishev commented: "We experienced the absurd situation in which the main question is not what a cabinet will do after the parliamentary elections, but whether there will be a cabinet at all, because Bulgaria looks disgusting - both from the outside and inside the eyes of the people".

In his words, politicians are not fulfilling their main duty. "People vote to get a job done. Work is not done, which leads to a crisis of the political system. Because politics is built on trust. There is no trust."

Stanishev emphasized that there is also a lack of political conversations and debates. "The whole discussion has been reduced to a kick in the knuckles and a lot of ugly pictures. Politicians currently live in their own world, and society in another world," he also told Bulgaria ON AIR.

According to Stanishev, the report of the former president of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, is among the topics that should be on the politicians' agenda.

"It contains all possible directions of future European policies,", noted the guest.

The former BSP leader was adamant that this is not just an academic report, but represents a systematization of all analyzes of the state of the European economy, trends and what needs to be done to make Europe competitive again. He also pointed out one shortcoming of the report - that it is oriented towards Western Europe.

"And we will be in line. But the most important thing is for Bulgaria to decide and get out of the position of a consumer or a victim in the EU," the socialist summed up.
