A fatal mistake killed Bilyana Petrova, the missing baby girl in Sofia. A young mother of two went missing, her relatives declared her wanted, and less than 24 hours later she was found dead. There were no visible signs of violence on her body, and her relatives admitted that she suffered a panic attack and post-partum depression. Antidepressants can treat depression, but a specialist must judge when to prescribe them. If the patient is suicidal, he should not be left alone at home, but be under observation.

How dangerous are these conditions and can they be avoided?

Psychiatrist Dr. Aneta Anichkina commented on the incident on Nova TV.

According to her, in this particular case, a consultation was done correctly, but the woman should not have been allowed to escape.

Postpartum depression is a serious mental illness of the brain. There are neurotic reactions to desaptation after childbirth. They are short-lived - 20-30 days. During pregnancy, serious endocrine problems occur. After childbirth, there is a very sharp change in the level of hormones - some stop being synthesized, and others quickly increase in concentration.

This change also affects the brain, which must be ready to react to the new situation, this is related to personal development”, the doctor revealed.

In her words, the decision to end her life can be both deliberate and spontaneous.

The change that relatives perceive should be an occasion for medical consultation. There is resistance to seeking medical help when there is shame, but this can be overcome with education. Children should know that the psyche is sick, the doctor warned.
