Destroyed asphalt pavement at a key intersection hides risk of accidents on the road, BNT reported.
The huge hole appeared at the roundabout to turn on to the "Struma" highway. after Blagoevgrad, the road to the Republic of North Macedonia passes from there.
With months at the roundabout to join the "Struma" near the village of Zelen, the asphalt is collapsing. After the rains in recent weeks, a large hole and unevenness has formed.
"We have been watching this hole here for a long time and it is constantly increasing, it is dangerous. It is busy and it is right on the bend, it is visible at the last moment and causes problems,'' said Strahil Tsvetkov.
The probability of accidents also increases during sharp maneuvers or sudden reductions in speed.
"Sudden braking is also dangerous, because the person behind you does not expect that you can meet something like a roundabout, and this is not in urban conditions, it is a large roundabout, and such measures as emergency stop", comments Georgi Burzakov, auto expert.
Light cars can easily be damaged passing through the section, and heavy trucks run the risk of overturning an empty trailer.
"If you drive by at high speed, the car's carriers will leave, many things can happen,'' said Strahil Tsvetkov.
"At least you'll get a flat tire if you go into it at high speed. Secondly, when you hit it, even at low speed, it is so deep that there is a very high possibility of cracking the crankcase of the car and staying there," Georgi Burzakov, an auto expert, also said.
After our report to the Agency "Road Infrastructure" from there they replied that they would fill the gap in the shortest possible time without committing to a date. Until then, they appeal to drivers to drive carefully and at an appropriate speed.
