Firefighters saved the lives of people from a burning block. A 56-year-old woman called 112 last night to report a fire in an 8-story building in Targovishte. Two fire engines, as well as police and emergency teams, immediately arrived at the scene of the fire.
On the spot, the firefighters found that as a result of the fire, there was heavy smoke on the staircase on all floors above the third, where the incident occurred.
On the floor directly above the burning apartment, firefighters found a mother with two 2-year-old twins.
"At the scene of the accident, we found an extremely complicated situation, a heavily smoky stairwell, many of the apartments on the upper floor from the third up were heavily smoky, people needed evacuation. Following our operating procedures we have determined that evacuation is not safe. We decided to tell people to seal their doors, to stand on opposite windows or terraces for their safety," said inspector Yasen Vasilev, head of the duty shift at RSPBZN-Targovishte.
The woman from the apartment that caught fire was in poor health. And the mother and her two children were immediately taken to a medical facility and given medical assistance.
"I am happy that my family is alive and well, what else can I tell you – Hello, that's it," commented Hristo Obretenov, father of the twins.
The injured owner and the mother with the two twin children are fine and are staying with their relatives.
