Ilhan Küçük: We do not support this government in order to be a front for Peevski. The battle will be long - 1

Dogan's DPS is going our own way and we do not need reconciliation or to make alliances with Delyan Peevski and his model. Our word carries weight and matters. This is how Ilhan Kuchuk, an MEP, answered the question of whether Boyko Borisov will have to reconcile the two MRFs.

"When we said that there is no going back, it means that we will do everything to eradicate the "Peevski" model, but this is not within the power of just one political party," he added in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio.

In the program "Nedelya 150", the MEP and chairman of the legal committee in the EP commented on what they expect from the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov and why they supported this cabinet.
"Let's give credit to trust. The government depends on the goals it sets for itself, if it works for the Bulgarian citizens it will stand, if it has another agenda, it will overthrow itself", predicts Ilhan Küçük.

He explained that Dogan's DPS are there, "to say that if we see a shadow of Peevski, we will react, and categorically":

"We do not support this government in order to be a screen for Delyan Peevski. The battle will be long, because his influence is not at the level of ministers, but deeper, including at the level of directors in key ministries."

According to him, the government model cannot be eradicated overnight:

"This is not the most desirable configuration for government, but it has its reservations. Given the need to act statesmanlike and make efforts to strengthen security systems, statehood, budget, and seek justice, this effort is worth making."

Kyuchuk indicated that they support certain priorities, such as having a budget, Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone, and "walking the path of the rule of law".
"We are aware of the risks that lie ahead, but it is worth trying to stop or limit Peevski's influence. We didn't know many things when Peevski was in the MRF. And as you can see, we paid the price", admitted Ilhan Kyuchuk.

He stated that they are not participating with ministers in the government and "we are giving a blank check":

"There are three things with our support. First, to strengthen the statehood and stop the series of elections. Second - to limit Peevski's influence and third - to seek legislative guarantees so that the MRF is not crushed and abused."

The MEP said that Dogan's MRF is not worried about elections, "but it would not be responsible behavior towards the country and towards the expectations that Bulgaria is a full-fledged participant in the European community. If we had gone to elections again, Bulgaria would have lost from this".
