Europe must rethink its role on the international stage and become a stronger political and military factor, believes historian Petar Stojanović. In his column on the program “This Saturday and Sunday” he analyzes the new geopolitical reality after the inauguration of the new US president.
"The crisis, which is visibly beginning for us Europeans with the coming to power of Donald Trump, is an exceptional opportunity to try to take ourselves in hand – to overcome this liberal-administrative approach to policymaking a little,&rdash; Stojanović pointed out.
According to the historian, Europeans still live with the illusion of their exceptionalism. –Europe has so far been the most pampered and most liked child of world civilization. "We continue to believe that much of the world revolves around Europe, that the world is Eurocentric, which was a long time ago - between the 17th and 19th centuries," Stojanovic pointed out.
