Russia and Bulgaria are connected by common traditional values and a rich cultural and spiritual heritage. This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, quoted by BGNES and TASS.
She recalled that on March 3, our country will celebrate its national holiday - the Day of Liberation from Ottoman Slavery, and in this regard congratulated the Bulgarian people on the upcoming 147th anniversary.
In addition, Zakharova drew attention to the fact that Russia played a decisive role in the liberation of the Bulgarians "from the five-century Turkish yoke, made possible the restoration of the Bulgarian state with its active selfless assistance."
We are connected by common traditional values, the richest cultural and spiritual heritage, to which the role of a key factor determining the character and tone of Russian-Bulgarian relations must return, she emphasized.
In her words, it is enough to visit the holiday once to "understand the true spirit of Russian-Bulgarian brotherhood and mutual understanding" and "how massive and nationwide this holiday is".
"Therefore, we are sincerely grateful to the huge number of Bulgarian citizens who honor the memory of the Russian soldiers who fell for the freedom of this country", the diplomat concluded.
