"There is no evidence that the Bulgarian citizen in Gaza died in a deliberate attack, at the moment we do not know exactly what happened", said Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev in "Panorama".
He emphasized that there are still no official results of the investigation. According to the Foreign Minister, Bulgaria has an interest in the truth being clear.
"We would not allow ourselves to engage in speculation and base ourselves on assumptions at this early stage and thus endanger Bulgaria's foreign policy reputation", commented the Bulgarian Foreign Minister.
Georg Georgiev described what happened in Kochani as an immeasurable tragedy.
"Bulgaria did everything possible and everything within its power, our quick and immediate reaction was dictated by our conviction that this fraternal feeling must be expressed", added Georg Georgiev.
He specified that Bulgaria's position on the Republic of North Macedonia is clear and categorical and should not be considered in the context of the tragedy.
"Bulgaria will continue to adhere to this European consensus. There is no bilateral issue here and there cannot be - the topic is between Skopje and Brussels, not between Sofia and Skopje," Georg Georgiev also said.
