The plenary hall refused to support the proposal we made to hear the prime minister and the heads of services on the so-called spy scandal in Great Britain - five Bulgarian citizens were convicted of espionage in favor of Russia. This was said to journalists on the sidelines of the parliament by the MP from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" Gen. Atanas Atanasov, a reporter for Novini.bg reported.
"In this situation, provided that there is no majority in the plenary hall, next week I will propose at a meeting of the Commission for Control over Services, which I have the honor to chair for a short time as a rotating chairman, to invite the prime minister and the heads of services there, and in a closed session, if possible a matter of classified information. At this hearing we expect to find out two things that are important for the national security of Bulgaria.
Asked from where in the presidency there could be a leak in this regard, the rotating chairman of the Commission for Control over the Services said: "Before the English court there is such a statement from the one who was designated as the leader of the group. Here it is important to listen to the heads of the Bulgarian services, because if there was any logistical support from anyone in Bulgaria, these people should be brought to criminal liability for espionage in Bulgaria. Let the Bulgarian services say what contacts were established here of these individuals, with whom they worked and whether there is any evidence of espionage carried out in Bulgaria", whatever that means. This is an important circumstance, which means that there are doubts about a breakthrough in Bulgarian national security. The second important circumstance that is relevant to Bulgaria is that these people had a task and took action to monitor the Bulgarian journalist Hristo Grozev, as they were tasked with monitoring his routes, which means that some serious crime was most likely planned against him", said Gen. Atanasov.
